Hurray for Friday.
Even though Alexia called in sick. At least she followed MOST of the proper
procedures – she just didn’t let ME know.
Surprise. ::rolls her eyes:: Which, I need to touch base with Kelly on the
progress of my Grievance Hearing. It’s
been eight days now and I think I deserve to hear something. Hell it’s been 23 days since Alexia told
Emily about her desire to “punch me in the mouth every single day”.
And Jess was out. But
we only got one sub. But hey, beggars
can’t be choosers. At least they didn’t
send us Scott (he’s too gruff, and has made my students cry because he’s so
sharp with them). This was the first
time I had Darian, but she was pretty awesome.
And we are having to change up the electronic policies for
the students. One of my 5th
grade students has figured out how to get around the filtering system the
District uses to block certain websites and was looking up very pointed details
on serial killers, the murders they committed, graphic details; just a whole
lot of violence. AND he was not only
showing these websites to his friends….but was ALSO coaching them on how to circumvent
the filtering system as well. ::sighs::
Going forward, that particular student has lost all
technology privileges until after Spring Break.
And I’ve suspended all “free” access time. Now, all students who want to be on their electronics,
have to spend their Viking Bucks (reward points they earn for good
behavior). They also have to sit at the
back tables, where teachers can freely walk with ease behind them to see what
they are doing on the internet, and the other students cannot see the screens. And if they are caught breaking any of the
rules, they then lose their electronic privileges for a week. Second strike is for two weeks. And so on and so forth.
