Thankful Thursday

written: November 10th

Because I’m in DESPERATE need of some positivity…as I’m sure a ton of other people are as well....so here’s my Thankful Thursday.
I am thankful....
1. to be turning 35 years old today.
2. for being able to take the day off of work, to just cater to my whims and wants and desires for the entire fucking day. So seriously needed it!
3. that my amazing husband was also able to take the day off and spend it with me.
4. for the utter FLOOD of birthday wishes I woke up to on my Facebook page, the cards, the calls, etc that I got throughout the day for it as well. For someone who dances in the shadows as much as I do, it is always a welcomed surprise to see how many people do notice and do care about me.
5. that the soul-crushing depression I’ve been experiencing the past few weeks seems to be lifting. I don’t care if it’s lifting because I’m cycling into some mania or normal stretch…or if it’s due to me biting the bullet and that I’ve started taking St. John’s Wort....whatever the cause, I am grateful.
6. remembering that one of the goals I’ve set for myself this coming year is to take a photo a day (the 365 photo challenge) and snapping a selfie before midnight. ::laughs::
7. NyQuil, DayQuil, and Cough Drops – I think the plague may be lifting from me.
8. absolutely glorious November weather. Mostly sunny, light breeze, and temperatures in the high 60s. Absolutely beautiful!
9. the rallying I’ve seen of people who are disappointed with the outcome of the election, but are vowing to stand up and protect those of us who have a very real apprehension of what the next four years may have in store for us.
10. having a quiet moment, communing with a gorgeous black basalt state of Sekhmet that was carved so long ago, that I cannot even begin to truly fathom the span of time between the artist who created Her image and me standing before it, paying homage.

Babysitting Ramblings

Babysitting for the Robinsons. I really need to ask for more information as to what all it will entail. I’m babysitting just the young boy for most of the evening. They’re taking the daughter and some of her friends out to dinner and then to play at Dave & Busters. I’ll be here until 10 pm or so. I wasn’t planning on staying that late, but I certainly will like the money. $20 will go to pay for getting my eyebrows waxed on Monday – gotta look good on my birthday. The rest will go toward paying off the last $300 left on my drum. After using my little red drum for my Samhain ritual, I definitely want a drum with a deeper voice. I also need to go to some drum circles to learn how to drum better. I definitely want to use my drum(s) more in my personal ceremonies.

I need to figure out when I am going to meet up with Long Fang. He has a walking stick that would make a great staff. Hopefully I can snag it over Thanksgiving Break.

I am so ready for Winter Break! I’m really looking forward to the school semester to be over AND to have a break from work as well.

I so so stressed out over all of this. I am having to fight to impulse to cut daily. I am not sure I’ll make it through the end of the semester without cutting unless I find another way to deal with my stresses.

I’m just ready to be done with the degree and thus the after school program. I am really struggling with Gail as my new supervisor. We don’t seem to be communicating very well. And I’m so defensive now. It’s a knee-jerk reaction now and I hate that.

After the whole fiasco with Chelsea, followed by Spencer, I have zero confidence in my superiors. And my super negative attitude is spilling over onto my staff. And that’s making ME a shitty manager. Guess I need to focus on me and let the rest of it fall to the wayside.

Besides, I’m pretty sure my evaluation this time around is going to be pretty crappy. So I might as well accept that, not worry about it, and instead focus on doing a better job for my aides and my students.

Vanity

It never fails.  Once a National Journal Writing Month challenge (NaJoWriMo for short) passes, I tend of fall off the journaling bandwagon.  But all in all it, it was a good challenge month.  I did write every day (which was my goal) and I wrote roughly around 13,000 words, so not too shabby.  ::smiles::

John’s journal arrived today – I’m taking part in another journal swap.  It’s me, Mary, John, and Annette from my original journal writing group.  November 21st will be my 12 anniversary of joining the group.  Which I now moderate, both in its Yahoo group and its Facebook group.

I’m pretty sure I’ve finalized my list of 35 Goals for my 35th Year.  I’m still having difficulty wrapping my brain around the fact that I will be turning 35 years old in six days.  I’m just balking at the fact that I’m turning 35.  It just seems so old to me.  ::laughs::  Which is hilarious, as my husband is older than that, and I do not view him as old.  ::shakes her head::  Guess my personal vanity is finally rearing its head?

Thankful Thursday

written Nov 3rd

I am thankful…
1.       Awesome early morning thunderstorm and rain, and the cooler temperatures it brought for the rest of the day.  It actually felt like autumn today.
2.       Leviathan had a great visit with the students on Wednesday.
3.       Will be babysitting for the Robinsons on Saturday.
4.       My uncle’s surgery went well today (to remove a tumor growing on his jaw).  Hopefully we will find out next week that they got it all.
5.       Great New moon and Samhain rituals last week.
6.       The national Journal Writing Month challenge, the Inner Witch October Photo Challenge, AND the Halloween Divination Challenge were very rewarding for the month of October.  I kind of wish I had something similar for November.
7.       Just TEN more assignments and I’m done with this semester.  Gods, do I ever need a break!
8.       My drum by Brandy is a little over half-way paid for.  I should have it paid off by the 15th!
9.       An absolutely GORGEOUS fire fighter that came out to our school yesterday when one of my students bumped the fire alarm.  Certainly made the whole ordeal a bit more enjoyable.  ::grins and winks::
10.   The Library Management class being interesting and giving me a lot of information and food for thought for use in my current management position.  I do intend to forward some of the articles we’re reading in class on to my bosses.
