Same gorgeous lily as yesterday, but today’s photo has all the beautiful raindrops on it.

Adorable tiny little slug (he was MAYBE an inch long) hanging out with me while I did my daily prayers and incense offering.

Another day, another dollar. Emily H. was helping out on my campus again (both of my high schoolers were out today). She’s part of what I lovingly call the Old Guard (like myself), and man, when we get together, I just feel like I’m completely validated in my view of this “new” version of the after school program – and let me tell you, it is NOT a good version. But at the same time, she also gives amazing feedback on my ideas on how to fix things. Now I just need to step up to the plate and offer my “fixes”.

I started working on my final paper for the Digital Citizenship class. I’m not enjoying it one bit and it’s a lot like pulling teeth. But any progress is GOOD progress at this point. It needs to be completed by Sunday night at midnight. I’m planning to bang out the rough draft tomorrow and then polish on Sunday and be done with this damnable semester already.

After that, I can plan on when to get the new fun color put in my hair for the summer. And I can plan some trips to the zoo before it gets too hot to enjoy being outside. And I can focus on finishing the school year with my students.

Thankful Thursday

My ORANGE lily has bloomed! This is the second lily plant to bloom.

It’s been raining and storming here all day, so luckily, once I got home, it was not raining in that moment. I was able to go out to the crape myrtle tree we’ve planted in Holly’s (Old Lady Dog) and make my incense offering (Storm Watch by DreamyTimesShop) and do my daily prayers.

I am thankful…
1. The free academic planners the local teacher credit union send to my school each year. Nothing is more delicious than a blank planner and a world of possibilities.
2. Amazing thunderstorm I got to enjoy before having to go to my staff meeting and then to work.
3. Just one final project due for this semester and then I’m done for the summer! I’m seriously burnt the fuck out currently.
4. Able to do a total spur-of-the-moment Beltane and Full Moon ritual with Hazel nut.
5. How well my lil garden is growing. Well, at least my flowering portion. The veggies didn’t make it, though I will be trying again.
6. Being in a much better mood at work today – actually having fun with my students again.
7. Carson (previous student of mine) and his mother stopped by and dropped off some games for us. Carson will be applying to work at the after school program next year and hopefully he’ll be assigned to my campus! The next time they stop by, I’ll show Carson exactly how to apply and who to email to ensure he gets an interview.
8. Sleeping really well this past week. I’m only waking up once in the middle of the night (unlike the typical 4 to 7 times a night). So yay for that!
9. The Red Dot. It keeps Josey (dog) well entertained and helps burn off her energy.
10. I’ve cancelled all my plans for this weekend (a class on candle magick and a trip out to the Ren Faire) because I know that I am not up to doing any of that right now.

Hibernate

May Magick Photo Challenge #2: Bloom (Photo 32/1001)

One of the prettiest rose blossoms currently on my rosebush. I was hoping my second lily would be open by now (it’s going to be an orange one, I think), but no such luck. So roses instead. ::smiles::

Whew. My aggression levels are through the roof today. I’m not sure why, but holy hell. It’s bad. I really need a punching bag in this house. ::chuckles::

I’ve got the research done for the Big Paper of Doom in Digital Citizenship class. Now I just have to sit down and write it out. That’s the plan for the bulk of tomorrow (excluding the meeting and work). I’m not sure I’m going to go to the candle class this weekend at the local-ish Pagan store. Even if I have my paper completely written…I do not foresee me having the energy to go be social. Which will probably bleed over into me not going to Scarby this weekend either. I’ll catch it another weekend instead.

I am just so mentally DONE right now. I just want to curl up in my room, with the lights off, the shades drawn…and just hibernate for a damn month.

May Magick Photo Challenge

The month of May has a Pagan Photo Challenge that I’m going to try my hand at keeping up with.

My May Intention(s):
0031

This is photo 31/1001.

I’ve set 5 goals for myself. Goal #5 is a private one, so it’s not being shared.

I dismantled the “Chill Out” spell I had for Alexia. Given that she’s 100% gone from my campus and we’ve severed all ties between us, it just felt right to dismantle the spell. That, and it was pissing me off every time I looked in the freezer to see that bag of ice with her name in it. Just kind of kept reminding me of the bullshit of having her on my campus. So the ice was thawed out. The water was poured down the drain. And the baggie and the piece of paper with her name on it were tossed in the trash. Good riddance. Now I just need to get around to dismantling the Sweetening spell I had on a former supervisor. ::chuckles::

Man, I am so envious of witches who seem to be so on top of their magick and spell work. Mine is nothing short of semi-contained chaos. ::laughs:: Guess that’s why I gravitated to Sekhmet and the Harpies. No fluffy magick or spirits here.

Speaking of which, today is Beltane for the bulk of the Pagans (at least for those of us in the northern hemisphere). Though astrologically speaking, Beltane technically falls on the 5th, which is when I’m planning to celebrate. Gives me time to go buy some mead and some firewood. I WANT A FIRE FOR THIS FIRE SABBAT. I also had a flash of inspiration of tying on some festive ribbons on my ceremonial spear as stand in for the traditional May Pole.

Roses & Plans

Photo 30/1001

20180430_193741

My rosebush, AFTER I had cut about 40 to 50 roses off of her. They were bending all the canes to the ground and a whole bunch were scarred from the round of black spot. Not the best photo, but the wind is blowing like crazy today, so it’s pretty much impossible to get a crisp photo at this time.

Man, I am exhausted today.

But I submitted the final book review for the Youth Lit class. Just have my weekly posting and then two responses and then I’m DONE with that damn class. I need to bang that out as swiftly as possible and then focus all of my attention on the Digital Citizen project. It’s a big one, but not terrible. I just need to tackle each section in turn and I should be just fine. I want to have it all done by Friday so I can polish it Saturday and submit it. That way I can go to Scarborough Ren Faire on Sunday.

Beltane with Hazel

All the pretty evening primroses at Hazel’s house.

Yep, ended up over at her house, totally spur of the moment for a super impromptu Beltane/Full Moon ritual. I am certainly out of practice on Casting the Circle and Calling the Quarters, but man, it felt so good to do so. I even brought my wand along and used her in her first ritual since her awakening. I was planning on bringing her, but she was pretty damn insistent. ::chuckles::

Granted, I still prefer my athame over the wand, but the wand will make a great substitute for the times I cannot use my athame. And the wand is easier to travel with as well. People tend to get a little nervous when you are waving a 13-inch blade around. But not so nervous with a simple wand.

Man, I’ve missed hanging out with Hazel and doing ritual with her. Don’t get me wrong – I adore my solo rituals where I go 100% by my gut. But having another person present makes me think more about what I’m doing and why, and making sure to include her view points as well. And then we just sat and chilled and talked in Circle and it was just awesome.

So yeah, it sucked that we didn’t get to go to the big public Beltane ritual, but it was still awesome all the same. ::smiles:: And there is always next year!

Books & Beltane

Photo 28/1001

20180428_193534

Last book I’m reading for the damn Youth Literature class. Finished it today. Now I just need to write up my book review for this book and for 13 Reasons Why and I’m pretty much done with the class. Thank heavens. Because the final project for my Digital Citizenship class is a doozy that I need to really get cracking hard on.

Hazel bailed today on us going to Beltane tomorrow. She has to take care of her grandmother, which I totally understand. But I would be lying if I said I wasn’t bummed the fuck out over it.

So I’m working out my own plans for Beltane. I think seeing as how Beltane is very much a fire holy day, this would be the PERFECT time to christen our fire pit. And I want some mead. And some sexy time would also be a traditional way to celebrate Beltane. ::grins and winks::
