Big Spender

Photo for today:

Yeah, I got my “settlement” check today from some class-action lawsuit against the owners of the apartments I used to live at. Hell, I don’t even remember now what the lawsuit was even about. They just sent me a postcard telling me that I was entitled to compensation and that they would mail the check once it was cut.

Yeah, it’s a whopping $13.65. Woo buddy! I’m rolling in the dough. ::laughs:: I just laughed out loud when I read the line about checking with my tax advisor. Like, I KNOW I’m poor, but damn. Thirteen bucks ain’t gonna muck up my tax bracket. ::laughs::

But, as Hazel Nut pointed out, it WILL cover my admission fee to the Mineral and Gemstone show this weekend with a tiny bit left over. Thankfully, this paycheck was STELLAR. I can pay ALL my bills, sock some away into savings (still striving to that $5k savings account) and have some play money left over. I’m rather excited about the Mineral and Gemstone show. I’ve never been to one. But you know me and how I love my pretty rocks. ::chuckles::

Unicorns

Yep, I’m rocking the unicorn, like a pirate’s parrot. ::chuckles:: Yeah, that just sums up how this insane day went. ::chuckles:: I needed a unicorn perched on my shoulder. Too bad I had to give the unicorn back to the kindergartner.

So I don’t have to do the photo a day any more. It was just for my 35th year…but I think I’m going to just finish out the year with it all the same. ::smiles:: Hell, I may do it again for next year, just for shits and giggles. I like the 365 Photo challenge because it does challenge me to be present in my life and to take the time to document it.

Portraits

Awesome “portraits” one of my students drew of Leviathan today.

Alex M. is amazingly gifted, completely self-taught, lil artist and I LOVE when she asks me for ideas on what to draw. I always come up with crazy things for her to draw Leviathan as. ::chuckles:: I have more that she drew today, but I forgot them up at work, so I’ll snag them tomorrow and share them as well.

So I got my grade back on the rewrite I did of my “Finding Aid” paper – a 93! Woohoo! That brings my grade for the class up to an A finally. Now, I just have to keep a firm grip on that for the remaining three assignments in the semester. And then I’m home free.

I registered for next semester’s classes. I’m taking “Literature for Youth” and “Digital Citizenship”. The Youth Lit class sounds like fun. The Digital Citizenship, not so much, but it should prove useful. I wanted to take the Storytelling class, but it was already full. So I’m going to make note of that class and hopefully get into it for the Fall 2018 semester. ::smiles:: I am getting close, so close, to finally graduating. I seriously can’t wait. ::chuckles::

Dreams

Reworking the Wolf Altar by my bed for my Dream Keeper Wolf. I found the wooden dish at Tuesday Morning (along with other things). The salt is sea salt and in the dish is the Wolf Mother statue (originally Anput statue by BrigidsGrove), plus the hematite carved howling wolf, and a crystal point of Morion Smoky Quartz, which is good for pleasant dreams. I want to add in amethyst (cures nightmares and insomnia) and possibly lepidolite (aids depression and anxiety issues). Oh, and not pictured is a HUGE sodalite “palm stone” (more like a miniature BOULDER) which is also good for keeping nightmares away.

Geez, you would think that I am PLAGUED by nightmares reading all of that. But mostly, I just sleep for crap and will take whatever help I can get that doesn’t require medication. ::chuckles::

I’m feeling pretty good about myself right now. I rewrote and submitted my “Finding Aid” assignment for Archives. I’m still VERY thankful the professor allowed me to redo that one, as apparently, my first paper didn’t apply to the actual assignment. Oops! ::chuckles:: AND I wrote and submitted my discussion answer for this week’s assignment. Now I just need to go back and respond to two of my classmates’ posts. So as of right now, I just have two weekly postings and the final to do and then I’m friggin’ DONE with this semester.

Crap! Just remembered that I need to do the “exit counseling” thing due to me dropping below full time this semester. Stupid, because it’s about loans….and I don’t have any student loans? But apparently I still have to do this anyways? ::shakes her head:: Stupid, but whatever. I’ll do it to remove the hold on my account so that I can THEN look for classes to take next semester. Holy fuck, is this schooling ever going to end? ::grumbles::

Ok, so once I finish my Archives class, I will have done 7 of the 12 courses I need to graduate. I need to talk to an advisor about the practicum (aka gotta volunteer/work in a library, under an approved librarian for a certain number of hours – should really check into how many hours that will be). I am HOPING that I can do that in the school library that my after school program is at. That would be a dream come true. Or at least, it would certainly make it easier for me. ::chuckles::

8 Inches

Photo for today:

20171111_163730

So this is what 36 feels like? I’m ok with that. ::laughs::

So yeah, I cut EIGHT inches off of my hair today. And I LOVE it. I was waffling there on the drive to my hair appointment, thinking of “playing it safe” and only cutting off 6 inches. But 8 felt right. And I’m glad I did it. I think my hair looks TONS healthier and smoother. So now the plan is to do everything I can to keep it looking this great.

I’m toying with the idea of doing silver ombre in my hair for Winter Break. I talked it over with Tracy, my hair stylist and, while she warns that it’s REALLY difficult to keep the silver going, when it fades out, she did say the blonde is gorgeous. Sounds fun, so sign me up. ::laughs:: But I’ve got to wait as it’s going to be a bit pricey again, the bleaching, the dyeing, and washing. But I seriously am looking forward to that. And then there’s the blue I will put in my hair for summer break.

Damn, I seriously LOVE being a witch. We give the most hilarious stuff to each other, I swear. I took a red brick over to Hazel’s house (red brick dust has uses for protective magicks) and she gave me some branches from a tree that had been struck down by lightning a while ago. ::chuckles::

36 Years

written: November 10th

Merry happy new birthday to me!

I finalized my 36 Goals for my 36th Birthday. I will need to go back over my 35 Goals for my 35th year, but I will do that another day.

Today started off bright and early with a trip out to the Fort Worth Zoo. I haven’t been out there in a LONG time and man, I had forgotten just how much FUN that zoo is. Sucks that there were SO MANY FUCKING KIDS EVERYWHERE, but all in all, a damn good day.

Here’s my top shot from the day:

I got to see my beloved Red Wolf. Just sucks the glass for his enclosure is AWFUL, so the photos are crap. But SEEING him was awesome enough.

I snagged lunch at Wok-N-Roll. I got my SUSHI! Woohoo!

20171110_142928

Oh my beloved Dragon Roll. It has been wayyyyyyy too long. I need to treat myself to sushi more often.

And later on, we snagged ice cream from Marble Slab. That shit is delicious – vanilla ice cream, rainbow sprinkles, and white chocolate chips. Amazing.

My rosebush is blooming again, even with the recent cooler temperatures.

I am grateful:
1. That I got the email today letting me know that I did NOT get the Zone Leader position. Seriously, the more I thought about it, the more I realized how badly I did NOT want that position. Head Boss Lady (Kelly) did offer that if I were interested, I could meet with her to receive a critique on my interview, and I’m electing to sign up for that. It would be good to get some constructive criticism as to what to do better next time in an interview.
2. Finalized my goals for this next year and am working on a serious game plan to achieve as many of them as I can.
3. Much cooler temperatures, so I could bust out the sweatshirts once again.
4. That my Professor is giving me until Monday to rewrite and submit my “Finding Aid” assignment – apparently the one I wrote and submitted didn’t quite fit the parameters.
5. My new wand arrived from Australia. I’m excited to start working with it soon.
6. Actually did a page in my art journal! I know, SHOCKER! Last page I did was back in March….so yeah. Mucho proud of myself. ::chuckles::
7. Don’t have to work tomorrow because it’s my birthday and I took it off of work! ::laughs::
8. All the birthday wishes, cards, and gifts I’ve received thus far. Most of the time, I have a very negative view on the impact I have on others. And then my birthday rolls around, and I’m utterly floored by the love so many people show me. It’s just so incredibly humbling and a firm reminder that I have a greater impact/meaning than I realize at times.
9. Depression seems to be lifting. If nothing else, I’m planning on doing a SHIT TON OF AMAZING THINGS THAT MAKE MY LITTLE BLACK HEART HAPPY, so that’s at least a good start. ::grins and winks::
10. That today begins my THREE DAY WEEKEND! I am NOT working on my birthday.
